Working Mom Spotlight: Stacie Lowe
Meet Stacie! A wife, travel advisor and Restored mom.
Number of kids: 1
Occupation: Travel Advisor
Favorite candy bar: Kit-Kat
Restored: Tell us about your family and your childcare solution.
Stacie: My husband works as a process automation engineer, and I work when my daughter is at school in the mornings. In the evenings, he puts her to bed while I work. In our post-COVID work, we are like most parents juggling the work between homeschooling and filling the role of playmate.
Restored: Where do you work, and what is a typical workday for you?
Stacie: I work for The Travel Mechanic, and I usually work from home or a local coffee shop. A typical day for me would be to get my daughter off to school and then work until about five minutes before after school pick up. I spend the rest of the afternoon with my daughter, and then I do some work at night after she goes to bed. Every day is different – sometimes I have meetings in the mornings with clients, and we create their trips. Other times, it’s late-night Zoom calls after kids are in bed. I’m pretty flexible and just roll with whatever works best for my clients!
Restored: What are some of your goals – personal or professional?
Stacie: My personal goals can be summed up as…“do all the things!” I have a running list of project goals, health goals, family goals, relationship goals, mom goals, friend, faith, all the goals. It’s a never-ending and always changing list. My professional goal for myself is to earn my IATA card. My professional goal for each of my clients is for them to have the absolute best trip ever. I pour everything into making clients’ trips into exactly what they hope for.
Restored: What motivates you to work?
Stacie: I thrive on the energy that comes from my job. Excited clients, endless to-dos and new adventures to discover and plan keep my days interestng. Every trip is completely different, so I am constantly learning and creating new things. It’s constantly changing, and I get to help people make wonderful memories. I absolutely love what I do.
Restored: How do you like to relax?
Stacie: Going to the beach! There is nothing better or more relaxing than laying in the warm sand and listening to the waves.
Restored: What is your favorite part of motherhood?
Stacie: I always love the quiet, sweet moments when my daughter and I connect. Times like recapping her day at school, a Chick-Fil-A picnic in the back of our van, talking about our feelings. These moments are especially precious to me right now.
Restored: What does Restored mean to you? How has it impacted you personally?
Stacie: To me, Restored is about community. It is encouraging to look around at an event and remember that all these women are trying to juggle the same things that I am with similar commitments, responsibilities and values. I find that Restored really fits with its name.
Restored: What is one of your favorite Restored events to date? Why is it your favorite?
Stacie: I love every Restored event where the topic is organization. In particular, when we recently met in person at Thanks A Latte (before COVID) and the virtual organization night have been my favorites. I love any and all things where someone gives me practical advice on how to feel or be more productive, or how to banish things that don’t matter from my mind.
Restored: Can you share how you overcome challenges related to the “mom chaos” that settles in when you feel pulled in 100 directions?
Stacie: I overcome challenges related to the “mom chaos” head on by making a list of every single thing I’m carrying in my mental load and try to sort them in order of importance. I like to delegate as many small tasks as I can. For my peace of mind, I have a few close friends who are not yet moms. Going out to eat with them, talking about anything and everything parenting once in a while leaves me refreshed and gives my mind a break.
Restored: Besides your faith and family, what are you passionate about?
Stacie: I really enjoy house projects. I recently painted my entire kitchen; we changed the cabinets from dark brown to white, and changed the island to a dark grey. I changed the drawer hardware, and the entire kitchen looks refreshed. I’ve also completed smaller projects like chalk painted large pieces of furniture, created a container garden in our yard and planted flowers. Basically, any sort of house makeover project is my thing!
